"A sequel to the megaselling Freakonomics (2005). It's not exactly economics for dummiesor, as Levitt (Economics/Univ. of Chicago) and business journalist Dubner (Confessions of a HeroWorshiper, 2003, etc.) write, "Chicken Soup for the Freakonomics Soul"but this followup is certainly more of the same, a relentlessly enthusiastic cheer for the application of the dismal science to everyday life. That is, everyday life as the world knows it, as when Levitt and Dubner explore some of the curious economic questions on the underside of terror bombings. Econometrics can be a soulless and sometimes divisive business, so the authors may incite some controversy with their report that in the UK, "a person with neither a first nor last Muslim name stood only a 1 in 500,000 chance of being a terrorist," whereas for a person with both first and last Muslim names the odds went to 12,000. (They add, however, that the odds scale way back if the person has a savings account and a lifeinsurance policy.) Less controversial, perhaps, is their look at the economics of prostitution, with some surprising findingsnot least that the average street hooker in Chicago earns only $27 an hour and works only 13 hours a week, drawing about $350 a week. They're priced out of the market, the everprovocative authors assert, by women willing to have sex for free. The authors also write that it's safer to travel by car than by most other means of transport, thanks in part to no less a personage than Robert S. McNamara, and by far less safe to walk drunk than to drive drunk. The authors' view of the climate crisis through an economic lens is similarly spirited, but certainly worth adding to the debate. Jaunty, entertaining and smart. Levitt and Dubner do a good service by making economics accessible, even compelling." from Kirkus Reviews

From The New York Times Book Review Lovers of Niffenegger’s past work should rejoice. This outing may not be as blindly romantic as "The Time Traveler’s Wife," but it is mature, complex and convincing — a dreamy yet visceral tale of loves both familial and erotic, a search for Self in the midst of obsession with an Other. "Her Fearful Symmetry" is as atmospheric and beguiling as a walk through Highgate itself.

Having read most of Charlaine Haris' other works I was thrilled with this last installment of the Harper Connelly series. Although it seemed a little rushed towards the end I thoroughly appreciated the sense of closure that Harris has given her readers. There were twists that I didn't seem coming (and some that I did) but it was an all around fun read.

I read the ebook version of this paranormal novel. I couldn't warm to this novel. There's plenty of twists and turns and you won't guess who the murderer is. Sookie is certainly an original character and I'll check out the next book. The best thing about this novel was Eric. I didn't like Bill at all.

This is awesome stuff! - Romantic Times Bookclub"Moning's delectable Mac is breathlessly appealing, and the wild perils she must endure are peppered with endless conundrums. The results are addictively dark, erotic and even shocking."
- Publisher's Weekly
Great Halloween Reading.
Mackayla Lane's ordinary life underwent a complete makeover when she landed on Ireland's shores and was plunged into a dark, deadly realm unlike any she ever imagined.
In her fight to stay alive, Mac must find the Sinsar Dubh — a million - year old book of the blackest magic imaginable that holds the key to power over both the worlds of Fae and Man. Pursued by Fae assassins, surrounded by mysterious figures she knows she cannot trust, Mac finds herself torn between two deadly and irresistible men: V'lane, the insatiable Fae, who can turn sensual arousal into an obsession for any woman; and the ever-inscrutable Jericho Barrons, a man as alluring as he is mysterious.
For centuries, the shadowy realm of the Fae has coexisted with that of humans. Now the walls between the two are coming down, and Mac is the only thing that stands between them...

MacKayla Lane is back on the hunt for the elusive Sinsar Dubh with the help of Jericho Barrons but this time her eyes are wide open to the dark world around her. Now that she knows who killed her sister she's also on a mission to track down the dark lord and get vengeance for her sister.
Mac has shed her southern belle persona and embraced her sidheseer ability as she begins to understand the power she possesses. What she also learns is that in order to get closer to the Sinsar Dubh she has to become something she never imagined.
Returning in this book are V'Lane and Maluce. One takes her to the happiest place she's been in months and the other takes her to the brink of death where she returns stronger than ever before.
I enjoyed this book more than book one, Darkfever. Mac's character evolves from the ditsy rainbow loving young girl into a woman with a darker side. She still has a little growing up to do but she's made leaps and bounds since the first book.
The relationship with Barrons is also pushed right up to the edge but not yet past the point where it becomes something more which I liked. So many books I read have unbelievable relationships where the characters jump right into bed with each other.
My review is based on the audio book read by Joyce Bean. In book one I didn't really like her accent but its grown on me and I really enjoy the way she reads. It makes Mac more real to me and I also like the way she reads Jericho and V'Lane. I recommend this series to paranormal readers and I can't wait to listen to book three, Faefever.

When I read this book I was at first disappointed in Edward's disappearence and Bella's childish behavior. At the same time I could understand how she felt, how hard it was for her to mourn Edward's loss. I mean, she didn't even have a picture of him, and after all they had been through. He was such a coward in leaving her, but his reappearence in the end was comforting. I was still able to enjoy the book to the fullest and understand that the story is more about Bella than Bella and Edward. After, Bella is the main character. I would put this ebook in the paranormal teenage romace/fantasy genre.
