eBooks - The Classic Children's Tale from C.S. LewisThey open a door and enter a world... Narnia.
This was an interesting book to read. I had heard of but knew very little of Narnia before the movie came out, and have wanted to read the book since. I was happy they were finally released in ebook format. This was the first book written of the series, although in chronological order it is the second. I recommend reading it first as it introduces things about Narnia that are referred to in later books. It was an easy read, the writing style was kind of funny – the book often would include an aside to you, the reader. It helped explain Edmund’s behavior in the movie a bit more, and overall it is good. Definitely a children’s book, but I think adults can enjoy it as long as they are in the proper mindset.

I gotta agree with the tagline, this title will always be a best-seller. This classic tale relates how 2 people, Mr Darcy and Elizabeth Bennet, were blinded by their pride and prejudice. Elizebeth hated Mr Darcy for his arrogance and Darcy looked down on her as he felt that her family was very vulgar and of a lower class. Indeed, the Bennets were troubled with financial difficulties, an obnoxious cousin and a handsome rogue who eventually eloped with one of the Bennet sisters. HOwever the couple managed to look past their superficial differences and fell in love. Darcy ended up saving the day of course so a happy ending ensues.

In this ebook classic by Jane Austen, Fanny Price comes to live with her wealthy relatives at the age of ten. As she grows up, she falls in love with her cousin Edmund, who sees her as a close friend and nothing more. Edmund's affections are snared by the worldly Mary Crawford. As horrifying as that thought is to Fanny, she soon discovers that Mary's amoral brother Henry is falling in love with her. Despite pressure from her uncle to marry Henry, Fanny is determined not to marry him. Austen's tale of how her wealthy family comes to appreciate Fanny's worth deserves more than five stars, but that's all I can give it.

I had to read this book for a class on Modernism and in a learning context it was amazing. I'm not sure how I would have felt about it for pleasure reading. Anyway, Conrad really brings to light the dehumanization of man. His descriptions of the natives depict a picture of items and things. The tone of the story is very... monotone. You have to work hard to see what Conrad is trying to say. I think the best part about this book is imagery, you almost have to read some paragraphs a couple of times over before you realize what he's describing. It isn't because it's nonsensical, but rather because it's so dense.
