This is one of my favourite Discworld novels. It follows the young Esk as she discovers her place in the Discworld. Guided by the hilarious Granny Weatherwax, we follow the pair as they make their way to Ank Morpork and Unseen University. As usual it is slapstick and Granny Weatherwax has some killer one liners. It's not just about laughs here though, this book has a strong story and I loved every moment of it. One of terry's best, read it now.

eBooks - Fantasy and Science Fiction - Satire - A Discworld Novel From Beloved Author Terry PratchettSusan's family is a bit... unusual. When her dear old Granddad -- the Grim Reaper himself -- goes missing, Susan takes over the family business. The progeny of Death's adopted daughter and his apprentice, she shows real talent for the trade. That is until a little string in her heart goes "twang." With a head full of dreams and a pocketful of lint, Imp the Bard lands in Ankh-Morpork, yearning to become a rock star. Determined to devote his life to music, the unlucky fellow soon finds that all his dreams are coming true. Well... almost. In this finger-snapping, toe-tapping tale of youth, Death, and the rocks that roll, Terry Pratchett once again demonstrates the wit and genius that have propelled him to the highest echelons of parody next to Mark Twain, Kurt Vonnegut, Douglas Adams, and Carl Hiaasen. |

eBooks - Fantasy and Science Fiction - Satire - A Discworld Novel From Beloved Author Terry PratchettOne moment, Sir Sam Vimes is in his old patrolman form, chasing a sweet-talking psychopath across the rooftops of Ankh-Morpork. The next, he's lying naked in the street, having been sent back thirty years courtesy of a group of time-manipulating monks who won't leave well enough alone. This Discworld is a darker place that Vimes remembers too well, three decades before his title, fortune, beloved wife, and impending first child. Worse still, the murderer he's pursuing has been transported back also. Worst of all, it's the eve of a fabled street rebellion that needlessly destroyed more than a few good (and not so good) men. Sam Vimes knows his duty, and by changing history he might just save some worthwhile necksthough it could cost him his own personal future. Plus there's a chance to steer a novice watchman straight and teach him a valuable thing or three about policing, an impressionable young copper named Sam Vimes. |

eBooks - Fantasy and Science Fiction - A Young Adult Novel From Beloved Author Terry PratchettTwelve-year-old Johnny Maxwell has a knack for being in the wrong place at the wrong time. This has never been more true than when he finds himself in his hometown on May 21, 1941, over forty years before his birth! An accidental time traveler, Johnny knows his history. He knows England is at war, and he knows that on this day German bombs will fall on the town. It happened. It's history. And as Johnny and his friends quickly discover, tampering with history can have unpredictable—and drastic—effects on the future. But letting history take its course means letting people die. What if Johnny warns someone and changes history? What will happen to the future? If Johnny uses his knowledge to save innocent lives by being in the right place at the right time, is he doing the right thing? Mixing nail-biting suspense with outrageous humor, Terry Pratchett explores a classic time-travel paradox in Johnny Maxwell's third adventure. |

eBooks - Fantasy and Science Fiction - A Tiffany Aching Novel From Beloved Author Terry PratchettSomething is coming after Tiffany ... Tiffany Aching is ready to begin her apprenticeship in magic. She expects spells and magic -- not chores and ill-tempered nanny goats! Surely there must be more to witchcraft than this! What Tiffany doesn't know is that an insidious, disembodied creature is pursuing her. This time, neither Mistress Weatherwax (the greatest witch in the world) nor the fierce, six-inch-high Wee Free Men can protect her. In the end, it will take all of Tiffany's inner strength to save herself ... if it can be done at all. A Story of Discworld |
This was another great read from Terry Pratchett in his Tiffany Aching series. It follows Tiffany, a few years after the first book, as she is going away to learn how to be a witch. There is more of Granny Weatherwax in this one and still plenty of the Feegles. As usual with Pratchett's Discworld fantasies, this ebook was very funny with a solid story. Young adults and older readers should all enjoy this ebook.

eBooks - Fantasy and Science Fiction - Satire - A Discworld Novel From Beloved Author Terry PratchettEverybody wants more time, which is why on Discworld only the experts can manage it -- the venerable Monks of History who store it and pump it from where it's wasted, like underwater (how much time does a codfish really need?), to places like cities, where busy denizens lament, "Oh where does the time go?" While everyone always talks about slowing down, one young horologist is about to do the unthinkable. He's going to stop. Well, stop time that is, by building the world's first truly accurate clock. Which means esteemed History Monk Lu-Tze and his apprentice Lobsang Ludd have to put on some speed to stop the timepiece before it starts. For if the Perfect Clock starts ticking, Time -- as we know it -- will end. And then the trouble will really begin... |
