As a mercenary who cleans up after magic gone wrong, Kate Daniels knows how waves of paranormal energy ebb and flow across Atlanta like a tide. But once every seven years, a flare comes, a time when magic runs rampant. When Kate sets out to retrieve a set of stolen maps for the Pack, Atlanta's paramilitary clan of shape shifters, she quickly realizes much more is at stake. The stolen maps are only the opening gambit in an epic tug of war between two gods hoping for rebirth, and if Kate can't stop the cataclysmic showdown, the city may not survive. **The following permissions are the standard permissions set by the publishers.

Fans of urban fantasy will delight in Ilona Andrews' alternate-universe Atlanta. -FRESH FICTION Reviews for Magic Burns and Ilona Andrews: This book is absolutely fantastic. I loved it. Urban fantasy, a smattering of smoldering tension romance, action, a strange past she has to hide from. Everything about this book was excellent, I have not read a book of its ilk since Anne Bishop's Dark Jewels. I have to say, if you are in the mood for entertainment, pick up this book, you will NOT regret. I have previously enjoyed (for reference to whether you might like similar authors I like) Anne Bishop, C.E. Murphy, Michelle Sagara, Christine Feehan, MaryJanice Davidson, Susan Sizemore. Magic Burns is the second book in the Kate Daniels’ series. The series is set in a “future” Atlanta a future where magic is coming back to the world and technology is starting to fail. An Atlanta where magic and technology both exist but not at the same time. Ilona Andrews has written a rich and vibrant story. This story can be read as a stand alone but is much better if read after Magic Bites, the first in the series. This book is very different then most of the other urban fantasies out there. The story is written in a sharp, hard edged style, very reminiscent of early science fiction. You are fighting for the hero all the way. Even if Kate is not human, we are left with more questions than answers and I will keep reading the series to find out more about our hero Kate As a mercenary who cleans up after magic gone wrong, Kate Daniels knows how waves of paranormal energy ebb and flow across Atlanta like a tide.
