"Three strong story lines lead to an intensely gripping finale. The ninth book in the Sookie Stackhouse series is one of the best." (Library Journal) Sookie is still in the middle of a love triangle with Eric and Bill in the 9th book of this series. Many developments occur in this book in the supernatural world that Charlaine Harris has created. The shapeshifters and faeries both make significant appearances in this book and choices made in these perspective communities impact Sookie and those that she is close to. The Sookie Stackhouse or Southern Vampire Mysteries Series is one of my absolute favorites. Charlaine Harris continues to build anticipation about the direction in which Sookie's personal life is going as well as the mysteries Sookie tries to solve with her unique talent. Each book in this series leaves many questions unanswered and raises more for the reader to grapple with in anticipation of the next book. In short, a must read. Start at the beginning of the series and get hooked like the rest of us! I read the ebook version of this paranormal novel. Vampires versus werewolves. This book starts with a bang and keeps going. There's a lot of unanswered questions here and the book ends on a cliffhanger which I hate. I'll definitely get the next one. I'm all caught up on what Sookie is up to now and can't wait for the next book. There are still a lot of unanswered questions. This series isn't over yet. this was one of the best series I've ever read but I don't think it's over yet, (I'm hoping) as alot was left unsaid and we didn't get to see who Sookie choses, so I'm hoping for another one in this series soon! so it can clear up a few loose ends..! I especilly liked the shifters all revealing themselves, that was Awsome! so please ms Harris, give us some more Sookie Stackhouse! This gets four stars because I love the Sookie Stackhouse series, yet it disappointed me. There were so many burning questions to be answered, that this book left open. By the end of the book, things got even more confusing and convoluted. I enjoyed Eric's actions that were tru to form. However, there was not enough Sookie/Eric time for my satisfaction. Bill was sweetly redeeming. The end was way too much of a cliff hanger for me. it felt like the book finally began to move along and then it was over. The book is around 300 pages, but should have been much longer! I think part of the problem was that the story focuses on too many characters to provide very much depth. I'm not usually a huge fan of Fantasy, but I have been reading all of the Sookie Stackhouse series and really enjoy the books (or ebook in this case). While 'Dead and Gone' was entertaining and fast paced, I felt as though it left us with more questions than answers. I'm hopeful that the next installment will clear up a lot of loose ends. As a result, 'Dead and Gone' may be an enjoyable part of the series overall, but doesn't measure up on its own when compared to the first eight books. Great installment in this series. The story delves more into her family and there is a nice mystery element. The shapeshifters come out and reveal themselves which also adds nicely to the storyline. More is developed in her lovelife as well, very interesting stuff. Excellent stuff, definitely recommend.
