Recommended Reading Order
For the best reading experience, it is highly recommended to follow the series in its publication and collected order. Because the books follow the ongoing growth, personal tragedies, and evolution of Cuno Massey, reading them sequentially ensures you catch every step of his development from a naive youth to a seasoned gunslinger.

Chronological Caveats and Crossovers
While the publication and box-set ordering is straightforward, readers should keep two interesting details in mind:
- The Town Under Siege Placement: Although .45-Caliber Town Under Siege was published in 2014, modern publisher Wolfpack Publishing lists it as Book 11 in the complete digital collections and box sets, placing it after the two 2015 releases (Left to Die and Killing in Cottonwood). Either reading order is acceptable, but sticking to the Wolfpack collection order is easiest for digital readers.
- The Lou Prophet Crossover: Cuno Massey actually made his first appearance in Peter Brandvold's other popular Western series. He teamed up with bounty hunter Lou Prophet in the 2003 novel The Cost of Dying (later re-released as Riding with the Devil's Mistress), which was published a year before Cuno's standalone debut in .45-Caliber Revenge.
