Recommended Reading Order
While Katee Robert designed the books in A Deal With A Demon to work as stand-alones, they share a overarching setting and recurring characters. To get the best experience and see the world evolve, we recommend reading them in the author's preferred order:
- The Dragon's Bride (2022)
- The Kraken's Sacrifice (2022)
- The Gargoyle's Captive (2023)
- The Succubus's Prize (2024)
- The Demon's Bargain (2022)
- The Demon's Queen (2024)
Understanding The Demon's Bargain Placement
You might notice some confusion regarding the placement of The Demon's Bargain. This story is a companion novella featuring the non-binary demon Ramanu. It was originally published in 2022 as part of the multi-author anthology Peculiar Tastes (which is why some databases list it as Book 2). However, on her official site, Katee Robert lists it as Book 5, right before the series finale, The Demon's Queen. You can read it at any point, but saving it for later preserves the narrative flow leading into Azazel's own book.
The World and Crossover Connections
The series revolves around the demon broker Azazel, who negotiates deals with desperate human women, trading seven years of service for a solution to their real-world problems. The women are then paired with various monster rulers across the realm. The series reaches its ultimate conclusion in The Demon's Queen, which focuses on Azazel himself.
If you love this universe, there are crossover connections to watch out for. The series shares a universe with Katee Robert's Bloodline Vampires series. Azazel and Grace Jaeger (from The Gargoyle's Captive) both make crossover appearances in the Bloodline Vampires books, particularly in Heir.
