How to Read the Miss Dimont Mysteries
For the best reading experience, it is highly recommended to follow the series in its original publication order. Because the books trace the ongoing life, relationships, and wartime secrets of reporter Judy Dimont, reading them sequentially allows you to watch the community of Temple Regis evolve.
Since the storyline proceeds chronologically as published, there are no timeline tricks, prequels, or complicated reading order splits to worry about. You can simply start at the beginning and enjoy the ride.
A Miss Dimont Mystery Books in Order
The series consists of four main novels, published between 2017 and 2019:
- The Riviera Express (2017) – The series opener. Judy Dimont investigates the murder of a film star on a steam train alongside a suspicious local suicide.
- Resort to Murder (2017) – When a body washes up on the pristine sands of Temple Regis, Judy and her young colleague Valentine must search for a motive.
- A Quarter Past Dead (2018) – The investigation moves to a local holiday camp, where Judy must piece together a puzzle of hidden identities and revenge.
- Died and Gone to Devon (2019) – Judy tackles two mysteries at once: the murder of a prominent politician and a decades-old socialite mystery.
Are There Spin-Offs or Prequels?
Currently, there are no short stories, prequels, or novellas featuring Judy Dimont. T.P. Fielden (the pen name of journalist Christopher Wilson) later turned his attention to a different cozy historical series: the Guy Harford Mysteries (beginning with Stealing the Crown in 2020). While they are written by the same author, they are set in WWII-era London and do not feature any crossovers with the 1950s Devon mysteries.
