Where to Start Reading
The best place to start the series is with the first novel, Finding Sky. While the main books follow different couples and can technically stand alone, the overarching plot, the mechanics of Savant abilities, and the introduction of the Benedict family are established here. Reading them in order offers the best experience as recurring characters and family dynamics evolve across the novels.
Benedict-Savant Publication Order
Following the books in the order they were published is the most straightforward path. This list includes both the six main novels and the companion novellas that detail key events from the brothers' perspectives:
- Finding Sky (Book 1) – 2010
- Stealing Phoenix (Book 2) – 2011
- Seeking Crystal (Book 3) – 2012
- Challenging Zed (Book 1.5 novella) – 2013
- Misty Falls (Book 4) – 2014
- Burning Yves (Book 2.5 novella) – 2015
- Angel Dares (Book 5) – 2015
- Summer Shadows (Book 6) – 2016
- Teasing Xav (Book 3.5 novella) – 2016
Chronological Order & Reading Caveats
If you prefer a chronological flow that inserts the novellas directly alongside their parent novels, follow this sequence:
- Finding Sky
- Challenging Zed (re-tells events of Book 1 from Zed's point of view)
- Stealing Phoenix
- Burning Yves (re-tells events of Book 2 from Yves' point of view)
- Seeking Crystal
- Teasing Xav (re-tells events of Book 3 from Xav's point of view)
- Misty Falls
- Angel Dares
- Summer Shadows
Important Note: It is highly recommended to read the novellas after their respective main novels. Because the novellas reveal the inner thoughts and perspectives of the Benedict brothers during their initial meetings, reading them beforehand will spoil the mystery and romantic tension of the main books.
Collections and Spin-Offs
In 2023, the three companion novellas (Challenging Zed, Burning Yves, and Teasing Xav) were officially compiled and released together as The Benedict Boys Collection, making them much easier to find in one place.
Although British author Joss Stirling (a pen name for Julia Golding) has written other young adult series such as the Struck series, they are set in separate fictional universes and do not feature crossovers with the Benedict-Savant storyline.
