Recommended Reading Path
For the best reading experience, you should follow the publication order of the Bitten Point series. Because the series features an overarching mystery involving a threat to the community and a sinister research facility, the stories build upon each other chronologically. The recommended reading path is:
- Croc's Return (2015) – Following Caleb (a crocodile shifter) and Renny.
- Panther's Claim (2016) – Featuring Daryl (a panther shifter) and Cynthia.
- Python's Embrace (2016) – Centered on Constantine (a python shifter) and Aria.
- Gator's Challenge (2016) – Concluding the series with Wes (an alligator shifter) and Melanie.
Publication Order vs. Chronological Order
The publication order of the Bitten Point series aligns perfectly with its chronological timeline. The events of each novel flow directly into the next, starting with Caleb's return to the swamp in Croc's Return and culminating in the final confrontation with a dangerous experimental facility in Gator's Challenge. Reading them out of order is not recommended, as you will miss key developments in the town's struggle against the mysterious threat.
The Greater "Point" Universe: Kodiak and Dragon Point
While Bitten Point can be read and enjoyed as a standalone series, it is actually a mid-section spin-off of a much larger, interconnected shifter universe created by Eve Langlais. If you want the complete, chronological experience of this universe, you should read the series in this order:
- Kodiak Point Series: Sets up the universe, focusing on mammalian shifters (bears, wolves, caribou) in the cold north. (6 books)
- Bitten Point Series: Moves the action down to the sultry Florida swamps, introducing reptilian and exotic shifters. (4 books)
- Dragon Point Series: A direct spin-off of Bitten Point, continuing the overarching story with dragons and other mythical creatures. (11 books)
The first book of the Dragon Point series, Becoming Dragon, features Brandon Mercer—a gator shifter who was experimented on in the swamp—serving as a direct link between the two series.
