Recommended Reading Order
For the best experience, the main Callahan & McLane series should be read in order of publication. While each book resolves its primary mystery, the overarching romance between detective Mason Callahan and FBI agent Ava McLane—and the drama with Ava's unstable twin sister Jayne—develops sequentially across the books.
- Vanished (2014) – Mason and Ava are paired up to find a kidnapped girl. This book won the 2015 Daphne du Maurier Award for Romantic Suspense.
- Bridged (2015) – The team tracks a serial killer leaving bodies on Portland's bridges.
- Spiraled (2015) – Ava survives a mall shooting, leading to a complex, personal investigation.
- Targeted (2016) – The final novel puts local law enforcement in danger when a killer begins targeting Portland police officers.
Prequels and the Crossover Universe
Kendra Elliot's series are tightly connected in a shared Pacific Northwest universe. To follow the characters' complete story, consider these additional books:
- The Bone Secrets Origin: Mason Callahan is first introduced as a secondary character in Kendra Elliot's debut series, Bone Secrets. Reading that series first is not required, but it gives great context for Mason's career.
- The Unofficial Fifth Book: After the main four books, Mason and Ava return as the protagonists in The Silence (Columbia River, Book 2). This book serves as the unofficial wrap-up to their storyline.
- The Zander Wells Connection: Zander Wells, the FBI agent who appears throughout this series, goes on to lead the first book in the Columbia River series, The Last Sister.
