The Recommended Reading Order
Because the Cavanaugh Brothers series features a central, overarching mystery—the decade-old murder of their sister, Cass—it is highly recommended that you read the books in publication order. The clues are dropped sequentially, building to a dramatic conclusion in the final installment. Reading them out of order will spoil the mystery of who killed Cass and how the brothers reconcile their family’s dark past.
Cavanaugh Brothers Books in Order
Here is the complete list of books in the series. The chronological order matches the publication order exactly:
- Branded (June 2014) – Features Deacon Cavanaugh, a businessman intent on dismantling the Triple C Ranch, and Mackenzie Byrd, the ranch's fierce forewoman.
- Broken (October 2014) – Follows horse whisperer James Cavanaugh as he battles guilt over Cass's death, finding solace with city-girl Sheridan O’Neil.
- Brash (March 2015) – Focuses on UFC fighter Cole Cavanaugh and veterinarian Grace Hunter, as Cole pushes harder for the truth behind the murder.
- Bonded (September 2015) – The finale centers on Blue Perez, the newly discovered half-brother, who fights for his place on the ranch and finds love with Emily Shiver, while Cass's killer is finally brought to light.
Chronological Caveats and Reading Tips
Each book is a standalone romance with its own happily-ever-after, but the subplot tracking Cass's killer links them together. Laura Wright uses diary entries written by Cass to open each book, providing vital clues that slowly solve the cold case. If you read the books out of sequence, the suspense arc will be ruined. Therefore, starting with Branded and finishing with Bonded is the only way to experience the full emotional impact of the saga.
