The Recommended Reading Order
For the best experience, we recommend reading the Chase Brothers books in their original publication order. Since the stories are chronologically linear and feature heavy character crossover, reading them sequentially allows you to watch the family grow and see previously matched couples in the background without spoilers.
The Core Chase Brothers Series
This four-book contemporary romance series follows the lives and loves of the Chase family in the fictional small town of Petal, Georgia. Polly and Edward Chase anchor the family, and each book focuses on one of their four sons:
- Giving Chase (2006): Focuses on landscaper Kyle Chase and shy schoolteacher Maggie Wright. As their romance develops, they must deal with a dangerous shadow from Maggie's past.
- Taking Chase (2006): Focuses on Sheriff Shane Chase and Cassie Gambol, a resilient woman fleeing a dangerous ex-husband.
- Chased (2007): Focuses on the playboy of the family, Marc Chase, as he falls for older family friend Liv Davis, navigating personal heartbreak and age differences.
- Making Chase (2008): Focuses on firefighter Matt Chase and salon owner Tate Murphy. Their passionate connection helps Tate overcome deep-seated insecurities about her upbringing.
The Petal, Georgia Spin-Off Series
After finishing the Chase Brothers books, readers can continue exploring Petal, Georgia with this connected spin-off trilogy. This series centers on the Murphy family (introduced via Tate Murphy in Making Chase) and other town residents:
- Once and Again (2011): Features Nathan Murphy (Tate's brother) and his high school sweetheart Lily Travis, who returns to Petal to help her teenage brother.
- Lost in You (2013): Focuses on Beth Murphy (Nathan and Tate's sister) and Joe Harris, who returns to Petal to care for his ailing father.
- Count on Me (2014): Follows Royal Watson and Caroline Mendoza as Caroline searches for the truth about her parents' past in Petal.
Visits to Petal: Bonus Stories
Lauren Dane also released two short stories/bonus collections under the "Visits to Petal" banner. These are best read after completing the main books in both series, as they contain short catch-ups and slice-of-life scenes rather than standalone plots:
- Alone Time (2012): A companion collection of bonus scenes featuring couples from both the Chase Brothers and Petal, Georgia series.
- Girls' Night Out (2013): A fun, short look into a night out with the women of Petal.
