Recommended Reading Order
While each book in the Christmas in Eldovia series functions as a standalone romance, they share a connected setting, recurring characters, and an overarching timeline. To fully enjoy the character growth and avoid minor spoilers regarding previous couples, we recommend reading them in publication order:
- A Princess for Christmas (2020) — Introduces Princess Marie of Eldovia and New York City cab driver Leo Ricci.
- Duke, Actually (2021) — Follows playboy Baron Maximillian von Hansburg and professor Dani Martinez.
- So This Is Christmas (2022) — Focuses on royal advisor Matteo Benz and consultant Cara Delaney.
Publication Order vs. Chronological Order
The chronological order of the series matches the publication order exactly. The events of Duke, Actually follow the timeline established in A Princess for Christmas, and the final book, So This Is Christmas, wraps up the main narrative arcs of the recurring cast. Reading them out of order is possible since the romance arcs are self-contained, but the character progression of the supporting cast makes sequential reading the best experience.
The Setting and Style of Eldovia
Eldovia is a fictional, tiny watch-making Alpine kingdom nestled between Switzerland, Austria, and Germany. The series is celebrated for combining the cozy atmosphere of a Hallmark Christmas movie with steamy romance, witty banter, and sharp humor. Jenny Holiday famously describes her style for the series as "Hallmark with sex and swearing."
