Recommended Reading Order
The best way to read the series is in the order of the narrative timeline, which matches how the books were published. Since the main story arc of Braita Valorn is spread across five consecutive novellas, reading them out of order will spoil the plot. You can read these either as individual novellas or in the compiled omnibus version, followed by the standalone companion novella set in the same universe.
The Braita Valorn Story Arc
- Fall (2014) – Novella #1
- Sink (2014) – Novella #2
- Stop (2015) – Novella #3
- Rise (2015) – Novella #4
- Soar (2015) – Novella #5
The Omnibus & Standalone Companion
- Cold Mark (Mark #1) (2015) – This is the compiled edition containing the complete saga (all five novellas listed above) in one volume. This is the easiest and most practical way to read Braita's story today.
- Moon Mark (Mark #2) (2016) – A standalone companion novella. It features a new couple (Madeline Faire and an alien Kireg leader) but is set in the same sci-fi universe.
The Novellas vs. The Complete Saga
When Scarlett Dawn first released the story of Braita Valorn, it was published as a sequence of five rapid-release novellas starting with Fall in late 2014 and ending with Soar in early 2015. Later in 2015, they were compiled into a single book titled Cold Mark. If you purchase the compiled Cold Mark novel, you do not need to buy the individual novellas, as you already have the entire story from beginning to end.
Where to Go Next?
Once you finish Braita's journey in the main saga, you can dive into Moon Mark. It takes readers to a different planet (home of the Kireg alien race) following a natural disaster on the human colony planet of Joyal. While it shares the same universe, it functions as a standalone romance and does not continue Braita's story.
