The Best Way to Read the Country Roads Series
While each romance in the Country Roads series can be enjoyed as a standalone, we highly recommend reading them in publication order. The recurring cast of characters, family connections (especially within the King family), and small-town gossip in the fictional town of Mirabelle, Florida, build on one another from book to book.
For the complete experience, start with Undone. It introduces Paige Morrison and Brendan King, establishing the community ties that form the backbone of the entire series. If you skip around, you will still enjoy the individual romances, but you might find yourself spoiled on which couples from previous books ended up together.
Country Roads Books in Publication Order
Here is the chronological publication list of the main series, including the series' mid-point novella:
- Undone (2013) – Focuses on Paige Morrison and mechanic Brendan King.
- Undeniable (2013) – Follows Grace King and sheriff Jaxson Anderson.
- Unstoppable (2013) – Features teacher Melanie O’Bryan and former pilot Bennett Hart.
- Unforgettable (2015) – A second-chance romance starring attorney Hannah Sterling and builder Nathanial Shepherd.
- Undressed (2015) – Book 4.5, a novella featuring publicist Abby Fields and hockey player Logan James.
- Unsung (2015) – Focuses on Harper Laurence and country artist Liam James.
- Uncontrollable (2016) – Follows Beth Boone and her neighbor Tripp Black.
- Untold (2017) – The series finale focusing on Brie Davis and local veterinarian Finn Shepherd.
The Jacksonville Stampede Crossovers and Spin-offs
Shannon Richard's contemporary romance universe extends beyond Mirabelle. The novella Undressed (Book 4.5) introduces Logan James, a professional hockey player for the Jacksonville Stampede. This serves as a direct bridge to her sports romance spin-off series, Taking the Shot, which focuses on the hockey team's roster. To follow this thread, you can read the first installment of that series, An Unexpected Christmas (2018), right after finishing Undressed or after completing the main Country Roads series.
