How to Read the Covenant Series in Order

For the best reading experience, it is highly recommended to read the Covenant series in its publication order. This sequence allows you to experience the character growth and plot twists exactly as the author intended. Pre-packaged or re-issued omnibus editions of the series often bundle the novellas directly inside the main books.

Recommended Reading Order

  1. Daimon (Novella #0.5, May 2011) – A prequel novella that introduces Alexandria's life before she returns to the Covenant. While you can start with Book 1, starting here provides valuable context.
  2. Half-Blood (Book 1, October 2011) – The official entry point to the main series, introducing the Sentinel training school and the class system.
  3. Pure (Book 2, April 2012) – Continues Alexandria's training and escalates the forbidden romance plotline.
  4. Deity (Book 3, November 2012) – The stakes rise dramatically as Alexandria's destiny begins to unfold.
  5. Elixir (Novella #3.5, November 2012) – A crucial novella written from Aiden's perspective. It must be read between Deity and Apollyon, as it deals directly with the immediate aftermath of Deity's cliffhanger.
  6. Apollyon (Book 4, April 2013) – The penultimate book detailing the preparation for the ultimate mythological confrontation.
  7. Sentinel (Book 5, November 2013) – The final book in the main Covenant saga that concludes Alexandria and Aiden's story.

Chronological Caveats and Novella Placement

Although Daimon is chronologically a prequel, some readers prefer starting directly with Half-Blood to get straight into the main action, then returning to Daimon as a flashback. However, starting with Daimon is the safest path as it introduces key terms and the world-building layout seamlessly. Conversely, reading Elixir is not optional; skipping it will leave a massive gap in the narrative between Books 3 and 4, as major plot changes occur in this novella.

The Spin-Off: The Titan Series

After completing Sentinel, you can continue your journey in the same universe with the Titan spin-off series. This four-book sequel series shifts focus to Seth and is a direct continuation of the events from the original series. It should not be read before completing the main Covenant books due to heavy spoilers.

Titan Series Order

  • The Return (Book 1, 2015)
  • The Power (Book 2, 2016)
  • The Struggle (Book 3, 2017)
  • The Prophecy (Book 4, 2018)

Frequently Asked

QCan I skip the novellas in the Covenant series?

You should not skip Elixir (Book 3.5) because it bridges the narrative gap between Deity and Apollyon and contains critical plot events. Daimon (Book 0.5) is optional but highly recommended as a prequel introduction.

QWhose perspective is Elixir written from?

Unlike the main novels which are told from Alexandria's perspective, the novella Elixir is written from the point of view of Aiden St. Delphi.

QDo I need to read the Covenant series before the Titan series?

Yes. The Titan series is a direct spin-off focusing on the character Seth. Reading it first will spoil the entire plot and ending of the Covenant series.

QHow many books are in the Titan spin-off series?

There are four full-length novels in the Titan series: The Return, The Power, The Struggle, and The Prophecy.

QIs the Covenant series similar to Percy Jackson or Vampire Academy?

Yes, it features a supernatural training academy setting similar to Vampire Academy and utilizes Greek mythology lore similar to Percy Jackson, targeted at a young adult audience.

QAre Daimon and Elixir included in the main books?

Some newer omnibus or special print editions of the series bundle Daimon and Elixir directly within the physical books or eBooks alongside their chronological neighbors.
