The Recommended Cricket Creek Reading Order
For the best experience, we recommend reading the Cricket Creek series in order of publication. While each novel features a standalone couple with a guaranteed happily-ever-after, the recurring cast of characters, town gossip, and seasonal events build upon previous entries. Reading in sequence allows you to watch the community grow and see old friends return as secondary characters.
Here is the recommended reading path, including the holiday novella:
- Playing for Keeps (2011)
- Catch of a Lifetime (2012)
- Pitch Perfect (2012)
- Whisper's Edge (2013)
- Moonlight Kiss (2013)
- "Mistletoe on Main Street" (Anthology Novella, 2013) – Published in the holiday collection Christmas on Main Street.
- Wildflower Wedding (2014)
- Sweet Harmony (2014)
- Walking on Sunshine (2015)
- Written in the Stars (2015)
- Wish Upon a Wedding (2016)
- Marry Me on Main Street (2016)
Chronological Order and the Holiday Tie-in
The chronological order matches the publication sequence. The only notable detail is the placement of the short story "Mistletoe on Main Street". This festive tale featuring high school sweethearts Clint and Ava was released late in 2013 as part of the Christmas on Main Street anthology. For a seamless chronological flow, read it right after book 5, Moonlight Kiss, before moving on to book 6, Wildflower Wedding.
Subseries and Town Themes
While the overall series is set in the same tight-knit Kentucky community, the initial books carry a distinct sports flavor. The first three novels—Playing for Keeps, Catch of a Lifetime, and Pitch Perfect—focus heavily on former professional baseball players adjusting to small-town life and finding second chances at love. Later books in the series transition into themes involving local business owners, country music, and town celebrations.
