How to Read the Ghost Mountain Wolf Shifters Series
The Ghost Mountain Wolf Shifters series by Audrey Faye is a linear, continuous narrative. Unlike some urban fantasy and paranormal romance series where books can be read out of order or as standalones, this series follows the collective healing of a single, deeply traumatized pack. Reading them out of order will ruin the overarching character arcs and spoil key pack developments. You should read them strictly in order of publication.

What to Know Before You Start
Before you dive into Ghost Mountain, it is important to adjust your expectations. This is not your typical urban fantasy filled with bloody battles, political scheming, or aggressive alpha males fighting for dominance. In fact, the series is frequently described by readers as "group therapy with shifters."
The backstory of the series centers on the Ghost Mountain Pack, which has spent years suffering under a cruel, abusive alpha. When the story begins in Alpha, that alpha has finally been defeated, leaving behind a broken community. The books focus on how a pack recovers from collective trauma. You will read about characters establishing therapy circles, working together in the kitchen, rebuilding physical spaces, learning to trust again, and protecting the most vulnerable pack members, such as submissives, children, and elders.
While there are light romantic elements and slow-burn connections, the core theme is always found family, resilience, and recovery. The tone is cozy, heartwarming, and deeply emotional.
Book-by-Book Breakdown of the Pack's Journey
1. Alpha (2019)
The series opens with Hayden Scott stepping up as the reluctant leader of a shattered pack. Alongside his friends Rio and Kel, Hayden must figure out how to guide the traumatized shifters of Ghost Mountain toward a new future while establishing the bare minimum of trust and stability.
2. Heart (2019)
Focuses on Lissa, the pack's bookkeeper. Lissa has spent years keeping her head down to survive. With the old alpha gone, she must decide if she can allow herself to stay and heal with the pack, or if running away is the only way to feel safe.
3. Rebel (2019)
Introduces Kennedy, a young "baby alpha" who begins to challenge the traditional, toxic pack structures. Her presence acts as a breath of fresh air and forces the adults to think about how they raise the next generation in a healthy environment.
4. Raven (2019)
Centers on Fallon, a street-smart raven shifter. Fallon's introduction brings a new dynamic to the mountain as she learns to leave behind the darkness of her past and embrace the warmth of a supportive community.
5. Breath (2019)
Focuses on the physical and emotional spaces of the pack. As the shifters work to rebuild their physically dilapidated cabins, they also begin to find the room to breathe and look toward long-term recovery.
6. Bear (2020)
Introduces Ronan, a large polar bear shifter who enters the pack's orbit. His arrival helps the wolf shifters expand their definition of family and brings a grounding, protective presence to the mountain.
7. Elder (2020)
Shifts the focus to the older members of the pack. The elders carry the heavy history and guilt of the dark times, and this book explores their unique journey toward forgiveness and self-worth.
8. Sentinel (2021)
Focuses on the sentinels—the pack guards. Those who are tasked with physically protecting the borders must learn to heal their own invisible wounds and recognize that they do not have to carry the pack's safety entirely on their own shoulders.
9. Shield (2022)
Delves into the protective boundaries the pack has built. It explores how to balance the need for safety with the need to open up to the outside world for true healing to occur.
10. Poet (2023)
Features a pack mating ceremony and centers on characters who struggle to believe they truly belong in the pack. It highlights the power of art, words, and creative expression in the healing process.
11. Catalyst (2024)
Brings new external and internal shifts to the mountain. As the pack grows stronger, new challenges act as a catalyst for further change, testing how far they have come since the days of the old alpha.
12. Bard (2025)
Focuses on a young teenage polar bear shifter who arrives on Ghost Mountain. Lost and uncertain of her place, she must learn to find her own voice and tell her own story within the supportive community.
Spin-offs, Co-authored Books, and Crossovers
Currently, there are no spin-offs, side stories, or crossovers for the Ghost Mountain Wolf Shifters series. It is a single, self-contained story. While Audrey Faye has written other fantasy and sci-fi series (such as The Fixers of KarmaCorp and Dragon Kin), none of these share a universe with the shifters. Faye also previously published under the pen name Debora Geary (notably the A Modern Witch series), but those books are entirely unrelated to the Ghost Mountain series.
