How to Read the Mageverse: Recommended Paths
Angela Knight’s Mageverse is a unique, high-heat paranormal romance series that blends classic Arthurian legend with science fiction elements. In this universe, Merlin and Nimue are actually alien visitors who gave King Arthur and his court immortality and supernatural gifts to protect humanity. Over the years, the series has expanded across full-length novels, spin-offs, and short stories published in multi-author anthologies.
Readers have two main ways to tackle the series: Publication Order or Chronological (Story) Order. For the best experience, we recommend starting with the first full-length novel, Master of the Night, rather than the historical prequels. Starting here allows you to learn the rules of the universe as they are introduced to the contemporary protagonists, after which you can dive into the shorter prequel works or read chronologically.

What to Know Before You Start
Before diving in, there are a few important elements to keep in mind. First, the Mageverse is an erotic paranormal romance series. The books feature explicit sexual content, and certain stories—specifically the prequel "The Once and Future Lover" in the Wicked Games collection—contain heavy BDSM themes including submission and dominance. If you prefer milder romance, you may want to proceed with caution.
Second, while each book features a self-contained romance with a satisfying conclusion for the primary couple, they are tied together by a continuous overarching conflict against villains like the Warlock and alien demons. Reading them out of order will expose you to major spoilers regarding which characters survive and how the global supernatural conflict develops.
