Behind the Scenes: The Ghostwriter Transition
The Casteel series marked a major transition for the V.C. Andrews brand. Andrews wrote and completed the first two books, Heaven and Dark Angel, before she passed away in December 1986. To continue her popular series, her estate hired author Andrew Neiderman as a ghostwriter. Neiderman completed the final three books—Fallen Hearts, Gates of Paradise, and Web of Dreams—using notes, outlines, and summaries left behind by Andrews.
The Lifetime Movie Adaptations
In 2019, the Lifetime network adapted the entire five-book saga into a series of made-for-TV films. The movie series includes five films released in the exact order of the books: Heaven, Dark Angel, Fallen Hearts, Gates of Paradise, and Web of Dreams.
