The Recommended Reading Path
For the best reading experience, it is highly recommended to follow the chronological path. Lizzie Brown’s transformation from a timid preschool teacher to a confident demon slayer is a continuous journey, and her relationships—particularly with her griffin protector Dimitri—evolve significantly from book to book. Reading out of order will spoil major relationship milestones, character introductions, and overarching plotlines involving Lizzie's family legacy.
The Complete Demon Slayers Reading Order
Here is the complete chronological sequence for the Demon Slayers series (also widely known as the Biker Witches series), including all main novels, novellas, and short stories.
1. The Accidental Demon Slayer (2008)
Lizzie Brown’s ordinary life as a preschool teacher unravels on her 30th birthday when her grandmother, a leader of a geriatric biker witch gang, reveals Lizzie's true heritage. Lizzie is the last in a ancient line of demon slayers. Soon, she is dealing with a demon in her toilet, a shape-shifting griffin protector named Dimitri, and her newly acquired ability to hear the thoughts of her food-obsessed Jack Russell terrier, Pirate.
2. The Dangerous Book for Demon Slayers (2009)
Now trying to get a handle on her magical powers, Lizzie is forced to head to Las Vegas to confront soul-stealing succubi. As if the underworld threats weren't enough, she must also navigate her growing feelings for Dimitri and prevent her motorcycle-riding grandmother from causing absolute chaos on the Strip.
3. What Slays in Vegas (2011 / Standalone 2023)
Chronologically fitting as Book 2.5, this novella was originally published in the 2011 anthology So I Married a Demon Slayer. It follows a high-stakes adventure in Las Vegas where a demon slayer and a forbidden succubus find themselves accidentally bound in a quickie wedding, creating massive supernatural complications.
4. A Tale of Two Demon Slayers (2010)
Lizzie’s adventures go international when she travels to Greece. She faces a dark-magic doppelgänger who threatens to steal her life, her power, and her protector. The mythological backdrop raises the stakes as Lizzie discovers deeper secrets about the magical hierarchy.
5. The Last of the Demon Slayers (2010)
The stakes reach an all-time high as Lizzie faces a full-scale demonic war. She is forced to confront her own family history, including the arrival of her father, who happens to be a fallen angel. This book wraps up the initial major story arc of the series.
6. I Brake for Biker Witches (2014)
Serving as Book 4.5, this novella bridges the gap between Lizzie's major battles and her wedding. Lizzie discovers a haunted biker bar and has to clean out the local spirits before she can focus on planning her big day.
7. My Big Fat Demon Slayer Wedding (2013)
Lizzie is finally set to marry Dimitri, but the underworld has other plans. With a demon bridezilla, underworld wedding crashers, and her biker witch grandmother running the reception, Lizzie has to fight to keep her vows—and her life—intact.
8. Beverly Hills Demon Slayer (2014)
Lizzie and Dimitri head to California, where Lizzie must deal with the superficial world of Beverly Hills. She quickly discovers that a demonic threat is using local plastic surgery clinics to steal souls, forcing her to go undercover.
9. Date with a Demon Slayer (2015)
A fun novella set as Book 7.5. Lizzie and Dimitri just want a normal, romantic evening to celebrate their first wedding anniversary. Naturally, the supernatural world has other ideas, and Lizzie must dispatch a few monsters before dessert.
10. Night of the Living Demon Slayer (2015)
Lizzie finds herself back on the defensive when a creepy cemetery plot and a sudden rise in local zombie activity threaten her home. She must rally her biker witch allies to put the undead back in their place.
11. Some Like It Hexed (2015)
This novella focuses heavily on the antics of the biker witches and the strange supernatural hexes plaguing their circle. It fits neatly as a companion story alongside the main events of Lizzie's late-series exploits.
12. What to Expect When Your Demon Slayer Is Expecting (2018)
Lizzie is pregnant, which makes her already chaotic life even more complicated. Because her unborn child has unique magical potential, every dark force in the underworld wants to get their hands on the baby, forcing Lizzie, Dimitri, and the biker witches to build the ultimate supernatural defense.
Chronological vs. Publication Order Discrepancies
While the reading order is mostly straightforward, there are a few minor publication quirks to keep in mind. The novella I Brake for Biker Witches was published in 2014, but its events take place chronologically before My Big Fat Demon Slayer Wedding, which was published in 2013. Additionally, What Slays in Vegas was first released as part of an anthology in 2011 before receiving a standalone e-book release in 2023. For the smoothest narrative flow, readers should follow the chronological order listed above.
What to Know Before You Start
Angie Fox's Demon Slayers series belongs to the lighter, humorous side of the urban fantasy genre, blending elements of cozy mysteries, paranormal romance, and comedy. Unlike darker urban fantasy series, these books prioritize laugh-out-loud moments, quirky creature companions, and domestic magical chaos. While there is plenty of action and suspense, the primary focus is on the warmth of Lizzie’s unconventional family and the slow-burn romance with Dimitri.
