The Recommended Reading Order
Megan Crane’s Devil’s Keepers series is a contemporary motorcycle club (MC) romance series set in the fictional town of Lagrange, Louisiana. The series consists of three core novels. Because each book is a standalone romance following a different couple, you can technically read them out of order, but it is highly recommended to read them in publication order to appreciate the shifting club politics and recurring side characters.
1. Devil's Honor (2016)
The series kicks off with Devil's Honor, introducing Joseph “Greeley” Shaw, the sergeant-at-arms for the Devil's Keepers, and Merritt Broussard. Merritt has spent years trying to escape her past and her history with Greeley, building a career as a lawyer. When trouble brings her back to Lagrange, she finds Greeley more hardened and dedicated to his club than ever. Their second-chance romance is filled with heat, unresolved bitterness, and high stakes as Merritt becomes entangled in the club's rivalries.
2. Devil's Mark (2017)
The second book, Devil's Mark, features Holly Chambless, the mayor’s good-girl daughter whose life is upended by her father's arrest for corruption. Determined to shed her clean image and take control of her own life, she targets Killian “Uptown” Chenier, a rugged biker with a personal vendetta against her father. Uptown originally plans to use Holly to get revenge, but their relationship quickly evolves into an intense and protective bond when she becomes a target of the club's enemies.
3. Devil's Own (2017)
The final book in the trilogy, Devil's Own, follows Ryan “Chaser” Frey, the club’s enforcer, and Lara Ashburn, a local high school teacher. Lara has a personal history of trauma associated with motorcycle clubs and actively avoids them. However, when Chaser confronts her in her classroom regarding his troubled teenage daughter, physical attraction sparks instantly. As the club realizes Lara has connections to a rival California motorcycle club, Chaser must decide where his loyalties lie.
The Connection to "Make You Burn" and The Deacons of Bourbon Street
Before launching the Devil's Keepers series, Megan Crane participated in a collaborative, multi-author project called The Deacons of Bourbon Street. Her book in that series, Make You Burn (2015), introduced readers to the New Orleans-based Deacons. Interestingly, the Devil's Keepers MC made a brief cameo in Make You Burn, inspiring Crane to write a dedicated series for them. While Make You Burn is not required reading to understand the Devil's Keepers, it offers a fun easter egg and prequel experience for completionists.

Megan Crane, who also writes bestselling historical and contemporary romance under the pseudonym Caitlin Crews, brings her signature emotional depth and alpha heroes to the MC subgenre. The tone of the Devil's Keepers series is gritty, raw, and high-heat. Readers should expect themes of redemption, loyalty, and heavy alpha-male dynamics. The fictional town of Lagrange and the surrounding Louisiana swamp function almost as characters themselves, adding a humid, atmospheric tension to the fast-paced romance plots.
