How to Read the Tough Justice Series
The Tough Justice series is a unique, fast-paced experiment in serialized romantic suspense. Published by Harlequin, this multi-author collaboration is structured exactly like a modern television drama. In this season, Agent Grant and the FBI's Crisis Management Unit (CMU) face a completely different threat: a serial bomber targeting elite power brokers in Manhattan. Like the first season, this is an eight-part serial that must be read in consecutive order to follow the investigation and the ticking clock:

What to Know Before You Start
The collaborative nature of Tough Justice is its defining feature. Harlequin brought together established romantic suspense authors to write distinct chapters of a single book. In the first season, Carla Cassidy, Tyler Anne Snell, Carol Ericson, and Gail Barrett shared writing duties, with Cassidy writing the bookends (Parts 1 and 8). For the Countdown season, Emmy Curtis and Janie Crouch joined Cassidy and Snell to tackle the new bomber plotline.
Because the story flows continuously from one novella to the next, reading these books as standalones is highly discouraged. Each part ends on a cliffhanger, and key romantic developments between Lara and Nick evolve incrementally over the course of the episodes.
