With hundreds of books published under the Adam Blade pen name, entering this fantasy universe can feel overwhelming. Fortunately, the path forward is straightforward. The recommended starting point is the very first series of Beast Quest, beginning with the book that started it all: Ferno the Fire Dragon (2007).

Because the overarching narrative follows the young hero Tom and his companion Elenna as they work to free the enchanted beasts of Avantia, the series is designed to be read in publication order. The books are structured into cohesive sub-series (usually consisting of four to six books), each following a specific, self-contained story arc or quest. Reading them in order of release ensures you follow Tom's growth, the introduction of key allies, and the escalating threats posed by the dark wizard Malvel.

What to Know Before You Start

Before diving into the reading lists, there are a few unique aspects of the Adam Blade universe to keep in mind:

• The Author Collective: "Adam Blade" is not a single person. It is a creative pseudonym owned by Working Partners Ltd. A team of editors outlines the stories, and a collaborative group of ghostwriters brings the battles and beasts to life. This method allows for a high volume of action-packed releases while maintaining a consistent tone.
• Sub-series Structure: Instead of one giant chronological narrative of 150+ books, the main series is broken down into mini-series (e.g., The Dark Realm or The Golden Armor). Each sub-series contains six (or sometimes four) books. When you finish one sub-series, you can seamlessly transition to the next.
• Chronicles of Avantia Prequels: If you want to learn about the ancient history and lore of the kingdom, there is a four-book prequel series called The Chronicles of Avantia.
