The Recommended Reading Path
Alyssa Rose Ivy is best known for her immersive paranormal romance novels, particularly the vast, interconnected universe known as the Chronicles World. While she has written contemporary romance, her signature style shines brightest in her fantasy worlds featuring winged shifters (Pterons), wolves, bears, and magic. If you are new to her writing, the absolute best starting point is The Crescent Chronicles, beginning with the breakout novel Flight.
The Chronicles World Universe
The primary paranormal series are set within a single shared universe. Although many of these series can be read independently, they contain recurring characters, shared settings, and overlapping events. For the best reading experience, you should follow this chronological path through the Chronicles World:
- The Crescent Chronicles: Start with Flight (2012), followed by Focus (2013), Found (2013), and the Levi-POV novella First & Forever (2014) along with First (2014). This series introduces Allie, a college freshman in New Orleans who is pulled into a hidden society of Pterons (winged supernatural beings).
- The Empire Chronicles: A direct spin-off set in New York City focusing on Casey and Toby. The order is Soar (2013), Search (2014), Stay (2014), Savor (2015), and Storm (2016).
- The Dire Wolves Chronicles: Shifts the focus to wolf shifters. The books are Dire (2014), Dusk (2015), and Dawn (2015).
- The Allure Chronicles: A series starting with the prequel Seduction's Kiss (2015), followed by Lure (2015), Lust (2015), Lost (2016), and Love (2016).
- The Grizzly Brothers Chronicles: Centered on bear shifters. Read Hunt (2016) and then Heat (2016).
- The Forged Chronicles: Follows the order of Forged in Stone (2015), Forged in Ice (2016), Forged in Fire (2016), and Forged in Light (2017). This series shares a close connection and setting with the YA Afterglow Trilogy.

Chronological and Order Caveats
While the order above provides the smoothest narrative continuity, there are a few important timeline overlaps to keep in mind. Specifically, The Empire Chronicles runs nearly parallel to the later half of The Crescent Chronicles. Events in New York City are influenced by the political struggles of the Pterons in New Orleans. Reading Flight, Focus, and Found before starting Soar is highly recommended to avoid major plot spoilers regarding the nature of Pteron society.
Additionally, the Afterglow Trilogy (consisting of Beckoning Light, Perilous Light, and Enduring Light) is set in the same world as The Forged Chronicles but is written as a Young Adult (YA) fantasy. Chronologically, the events of Afterglow take place before the events of Forged, providing deep lore and backstory. However, because Forged is written for a New Adult/Adult audience, it can be read completely independently without prior knowledge of the Afterglow novels.

Willow Harbor is a multi-author shared universe. Authors Jennifer Snyder, Juliana Haygert, Sarra Cannon, and Alyssa Rose Ivy all contribute standalone stories set in the supernatural town of Willow Harbor. Alyssa Rose Ivy's paranormal books lean heavily into New Adult tropes: college-aged protagonists, instant attraction, fated connections, and hidden supernatural politics. Her world-building focuses more on character chemistry and dialogue than dense historical lore. If you prefer high fantasy, start with the Afterglow Trilogy first; if you want steamy romance and fast pacing, go straight to Flight.
